Din Din Wo (Little Child)
I am truly happy to be able to publish this artwork. It has been a delightful experience working the 24 variation myself. A rather repetitive exercise but very rewarding once everything comes together.
This most important thing for me is doing what I love and what I want to see. In a way, an artist is creating their own little world they share.
I believe this artwork was triggered by a conversation I had with my sister. We're were just talking and reminiscing about our childhood. We talked about how we never had the kind of clothes we wanted and how sad we felt about that. Now, it was never really about funds or the lack thereof, we just had a very practical mother who by default, would think of functionality and not the princess gowns and sparkling shoes. She focused on basics.
In addition, we never complained or asked for what we wanted, we just took it as it was and learnt to make do with what we had. But that is that. I love fashion, it is an artistic expression of character, knowledge and experience. Putting together a great outfit can be a satisfying experience. One I enjoy and it was same creating a virtual dress up play.
As 24 hr cycle installation, this artwork would update itself every hour with a variant.
